Professional Counseling - Master of Arts
The Master of Arts in Professional Counseling degree program at South University's Richmond campus in Glen Allen, Virginia, is a 92-quarter-hour curriculum intended to meet the local and regional need for qualified professional counselors. The emphasis of this Richmond counseling master?s degree program is on community and agency counseling.

Professional Counseling Competencies

Graduates are expected to achieve skill competence for professional counseling behaviors that include but are not limited to:

* individual counseling
* small group counseling
* family interventions
* consultations
* diagnosis
* assessment
* treatment planning
* counseling program management (including outcomes assessment and program evaluation)
* client and/or professional advocacy
* community intervention
* crisis response and/or counseling
* application of professional ethical and pertinent legal standards.
